Morning, after immigration formalities, we proceed to Thimphu. On the way, visit Kharbandi Goenpa. Lunch at Bunakha Restaurant. Evening at leisure, walk around town. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Morning, visit Memorial Chorten, built in honour of 3rd King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Then drive to Kuenselphodrang, where there is a giant Statue of Lord Buddha, (Considered one of the largest statue in the World), later visit, Taktshang Preserve centre and Sangaygang (View point of Thimphu City). And then we will visit Zilukha Nunnery. Later visit National Library, stocked with ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thangkas (sacred Buddhist religious scrolls). After lunch, we will visit the weekends centennial market and then visit Trashichho Dzong.(the largest fortress and an administrative office in Bhutan).
Late afternoon, proceed to Punakha (2 and half hours driving time). Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Punakha.
Morning, visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. Later visit Chimmi Lhakhang which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. He subdued the demons with his “Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”. After lunch, Proceed for Gangtey 3 and half hours drive). Enroute sightseeing in the valley of Wangdiphodrang, it includes: visit to Wangdiphodrang Dzong (from outside) built in 1638.
Evening explore, Phobjikha Valley, Winter Roosting ground of Black necked crane, an Endangered species. Visit RSPN centre. Dinner and overnight in Phobjikha.
Early morning, after breakfast, visit Gangtey Monastery, then proceed for Bumthang. Enroute, on reaching Trongsa, visit Trongsa Dzong, the most impressive dzong of Bhutan, built in its present form in 1644 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa. After lunch in Trongsa, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watch towerand now serves as the Museum. The chapel inside the Ta Dzong is said to be dedicated to the Trongsa Penlop Jigme Namgyal.
Evening at leisure, Dinner and overnight in Bumthang.
After breakfast, visit Jakar Dzong, which literally means “The Castle of White Bird”. then visits Lamey Goemba, a large palace and monastery built in 18th century by Dasho Phuntsho Wangdi. Visit Jambay Lhakhang, built by King Srongsen Gampo of Tibet in the year 659 on the same day as Kichu Lhakhang in Paro. After lunch, visit Kurjey Lhakhang that is named after body print of Guru Rimpoche, built in 1652 by Minjur Tempa. Visit Tamshing Lhakhang (Temple of the good message), established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa and is the most important Nyingmapa temple in the kingdom. In the evening, visit Membarstho which literally means, “The burning Lake”. Evening at Leisure, Dinner and overnight in Bumthang.
Today, we start early back to Thimphu. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
After early breakfast, Drive to Paro and take an Excursion to Takshang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery. This incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. After lunch, visit Paro Dzong, Ta Museum and Kichu Lhakhang. Evening at leisure. Walk around Paro Town and Explore Handicraft shops. Dinner and overnight in Paro.
