Tour Plan

You will be received at the Paro Airport by our tour guide according to the flight schedule of the day. You will then be escorted to your hotel room by road. Lunch will be served at the hotel.

In the afternoon, you will visit Paro Dzong, the headquarters of Paro District and Ta-Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, both located above the main Paro town.

After breakfast, you will walk to Taktshang Monastery viewpoint, temple built around a cave in which Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated. On your way back, you will visit Drugyel Dzong, the actual remains of the Dzong which was destroyed by fire in 1951 and Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest monasteries, which was built in 7th century.

An approximately two hour drive will be made after breakfast to the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu. You will be checked-in to your hotel room. Lunch will be served.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Memorial Chorten of the Late King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, built in 1974. Later, you will also visit the Indigenous Hospital, where traditional medicine is practiced and the Painting School, where children learn the ancient art of painting.

In the morning, we will drive you up to a viewpoint (usually known as the BBS Tower) overlooking the Thimphu Valley. On the way, you will have an opportunity to see the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin. Other places you will see include: Dupthop Nunnery, National Library, Traditional Paper factory, Changangkha monastery, Folk heritage museum, Textile museum and the Handicrafts Emporium.

You will be travelling the whole day from Thimphu to Trongsa via Punakha. On the way, a short stop will be made at the Dochula Pass from where we can see a whole range of Eastern Himalaya on a clear day. Lunch will be served at Punakha.

After lunch, an approximately 5 hour drive will take us to Trongsa.

After breakfast, we will take an excursion to Kuenga Rabten Palace, the winter home of the Second Monarch of Bhutan, Jigme Wangchuck. Besides the palace, you will also see beautiful expanse of rice terraces in the lower Mangdue-Chu valley and a large waterfall. We drive back to Trongsa for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit Trongsa Dzong, one of the longest & most impressive Dzongs in Bhutan. After the visit, we will drive you to Bumthang.

You will take a walk up to Tamshing monastery, founded by the Terton Pema Lingpa, where about 200 monks reside. You will also visits Wangdi Chholing Palace, Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan.

After breakfast the transport will reach you up to the trek point just below Kurjey Lhakhang, one of Bumthang's most renowned temples. The trek route takes you along the Chamkhar Chu, a river known for its richness in trout. The trek trail for Bumthang to Gorsum is rather gradual. You will camp for the night at Gorsum.

Today you will be walking through dense forests of spruce, hemlock, cypress, juniper and maples. The trail is more or less muddy and ascends gradually till you reach to your campsite.

Vegetation is dense from Tsochenchen all the way uphill to the Julila pass, which are about 4,700m. The vegetation from Lungsum to Tsochenchen is more or less the same till you reach near to your campsite. The camp will be above tree line.

Trek from Tsochenchen is uphill till you reach the Julila pass at about 3,400m. From here if the weather is clear surrounding mountains can be viewed. After crossing the pass the trek trail descends till you reach the campsite. Musk deer, herds of Blue Sheep and Himalayan bear may be seen en route.

After a late breakfast relax in the hot spring or hike in and around the camp.

Trek trail from Dur Tsachu is uphill till Julila. After crossing the pass the trail descends till you reach the campsite. Overnight camp is prepared.

Today the trek begins early, as the trail is long. The trail drops gradually down for about 2 hours till you reach campsite.

From Gorsum descend downhill till you cross the Dur village bridge. Then follow the new motor road till you meet up with transport. After lunch, leisure time and free.

Drive to Wangdue takes about 8 hours. Picnic lunch will be provided at the lodge.

In the morning, you will visit Wangdue Dzong which was built in 1638. It is believed to be built on the back of the giant Elephants back and is considered one of the most important Dzongs of the 17th century. Later, you will walk to Chimmi Lhakhang, the monastery built by Drukpa Kuenley (the Divine Madman).

After the visit, you will drive via Dochula Pass and Thimphu to Paro.

You will be driven to the Paro Airport according to the flight schedule of the day and our tour guide will bid you farewell.
